Danut Ripa - Actor
Danut Ripa a fost actor in Trupa de Teatru de la Gasteni. L-am vazut prima oara pe scena ca director al unui centru de recuperare si reabilitare neuropsihica in piesa de teatru forum, la prima conferinta de "Lucru prin Arte cu Persoanele cu Dizabilitati", Bacau, 2003. Ultima oara ne-am vazut si am stat la povesti pe holurile de la Gasteni. Am vorbit despre purici, teatru si viata. Am facut si un interviu, pe care in curand n-am sa-l mai tin secret.

Lucrez prin arte cu persoane cu dizabilitati care locuiesc in institutii de stat din Romania de peste 10 ani. I-am vazut crescand din copii in tineri, din tineri in adulti... Pe unii i-am vazut transformandu-se din participanti in artisti recunoscuti si cu integritate. Cred ca a venit vremea sa ii cunoasca si altii prin povestile, poeziile, cantecele, desenele, dansurile lor...

Time
It's been a long time since I've looked at this blog.
The work we've been doing hasn't stopped. We just took a natural break.
We are back now.
Romania feels to have settled politically, but the realities of life are starting to appear.
I recently had to contact a few care centres for children and adults with disabilities from Romania.
The news is sad: more disabled children and adults are put into temporary care, in institutions that are understaffed and most probably underfunded.
I am sure that history is not going to repeat itself, but we have to keep an eye on this situation and make sure that we CARE.
Maybe that's why I am starting to post here again.

In August 2010 I've spent 10 days living in CRRN Racaciuni (Centrul de Recuperare si Reabilitare Neuropsihica) and working through the arts with over 30 residents, developing skills and work together.
We spent time singing, dancing, drawing, talking and playing.
We produced a big body of work, be it in drawings, film, photography and recordings.
My intention is make our work and collaborations known via this blog.
I wander how long it will take me.
